After receiving a medical discharge from the military in 2000, Robert E.
Schubert attempted to re-enlist many times and ultimately joined the
Missouri National Guard. He served his country for eight years proudly and
honorably.
Schubert never imagined himself writing books, he struggled his entire life to
even read. He spent most of his school years in learning disability classes. This
was a setback for him, which only led to a crippling fear of reading later on in life.
It wasn’t until he was thirty-five years old when he made the life altering decision
to push his self to face his fear head on. Schubert often tells people when asked “I
started writing just to prove that I can read.” Schubert went on to receive his BA
in history from Columbia College and has now published his forth book.
Schubert built his first knife at his fathers sheet metal shop in 1986, a blade he still has today. Now Schubert is pushing to create the highest quality functional work of art at his shop Ironhead Forge.
